Warren, Richard (b. 1681, d. 1748)
Note: From Rev. Thomas Warren p.50 Richard Warren, Rector of Cavendish, Archdeacon of Suffolk 7th child of Samuel Warren and Sarah Stafford "Richard, b. 1681, d. 1748, buried at Cavendish, Suffolk, monument in chancel. He was Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge, B.A. 1699, M.A. 1703, B.D. 1710, D.D. 1718; was an eminent divine, Rector of Cavendish, also Archdeacon of Suffolk, author of several controversial pieces against Bishop Hoadley on the Sacrament, S.T.P. Trinity College, Cambridge. "He married Priscilla (b. 1701, d. 1774), daughter and co-heiress of John Fenner of Ashford, Kent, and had issue (3 sons and 5 daughters). 1. Mary b. 1724 m. Rev. G Wakefield of Northants 2. Elizabeth b. 1726 m. Rev W Bradford, Prebendary of Southwell 3. Sarah b. 1727 d. same year 4. Samuel b.1728, d. at St James, Santee, South Carolina, m. Eliza Perdrieux - issue Samuel, Benjamin and a daughter 5. John b. 1730 d. in London, January 1800 6. Richard b 1731 d. 1797 7. Priscilla b. 1734, no account 8. Dorothy b. 1736 m. John Gurney, F.R.S., surgeon to George III and Surgeon-General in Army, left issue." My Comments: Richard and Priscilla had 3 sons, Samuel Fenner (Huguenot minister in South Carolina), John (Bishop of Bangor) and Richard (Physician to George III). Of these, Samuel and Richard left issue. The fate of Samuel Fenner Warren's line in USA is unknown. Sems odd that SFW, the oldest son, left for USA (possibly via France), while the 2 younger sons were well educated and carved out very successful careers for themselves in England. Suggests that SFW had issues (relationship and/or idealogical?) that caused him to change religious denomination and leave his country.
